What is a Snake Draft?

A snake draft is a selection method that ensures fairness by reversing the order each round. If you pick first in Round 1, you pick last in Round 2, then first again in Round 3, creating a "snake" pattern.

Step-by-Step Draft Process
Pre-Draft Preparation
1-2 Weeks Before Draft:
  • Review the full year calendar
  • Identify your preferred weeks (make a top 10 list)
  • Note high-demand periods (holidays, summer)
  • Plan backup selections for each round
  • Check your draft position and time slot
Draft Day Login
On Your Draft Day:
  • Log in 15 minutes before your first pick

    System opens at 8:00 AM EST

  • Navigate to the Dashboard

    The draft board will show live updates

  • Monitor who's picking

    You'll see when it's almost your turn

Making Your Selections
When It's Your Turn:
  • 1. Review available weeks

    Gray/taken weeks are not selectable

  • 2. Click on your desired week

    The week will highlight when selected

  • 3. Confirm your selection

    Click 'Confirm Pick' button

  • 4. Wait for next round

    The system will notify you for your next turn

After the Draft
  • Review your final selections

    Check 'My Picks' page for confirmation

  • Save/print your vacation schedule

    Available in the Matrix view

  • Arrange any desired trades

    Contact partners directly, then notify HR

Important Rules & Restrictions
Restrictions
  • Max 2 consecutive weeks
  • Summer weeks (23-32) limited
  • Must select all 9 weeks
  • Selections are final
Tips for Success
  • Have 15+ backup weeks ready
  • Consider off-peak weeks
  • Balance throughout the year
  • Coordinate with family early
Draft Strategy Guide
Round-by-Round Strategy
  • Rounds 1-2: Premium Weeks

    Target holiday weeks or peak summer if they're priorities

  • Rounds 3-4: High Demand Periods

    School breaks, long weekends, popular vacation times

  • Rounds 5-6: Strategic Selections

    Fill in spring/fall weeks, consider weather and events

  • Rounds 7-9: Remaining Weeks

    Complete your schedule, look for hidden gems
